Response To The Film The Battle Of Algiers
The Battle of Algiers is a classical half-documentary film about the Italian-Algerian historical war. It was directed in1966. It was based on the history of the Algerian War. This War was against the French armed forces in North Africa. This film is not gorgeous but simple and powerful. It has the character of Italian neorealist cinema. It is very impressive not only because the real scene but also the research value.
In this film, Algeria was a French colony, after World War II they began to try to throw off French control. The story just like the history events happened in Indochina, French sadly found that they were like making a fool of themselves because they couldn’t control the whole situation. If it can be said that “day does not fall” Britain saw the sun set finally, then the French had entered the late at night at that time. Seen from the outside, Algerians were still obeyed to the French control. However, the national liberation front had stretched to every corner of the city. What’s more, they got the support of people.
It is well-known that the common people have the strongest power all over the world. In this film, most actors are the local people. Every scene shows the hope and faith of the country. Although the whole story happened heartrendingly, it gave the world a meaningful lesson. For the history and politics research of global studies, the ultimate goal is world peace and development. Just like the heroes in this film, did their best to go after the national liberation, even sacrificed themselves. Wars also pushed the development of the society; the French brought the advanced infrastructure and superstructure to Algeria during the period of wars, and the Algerian also improved their awareness of freedom, liberation and peace. It is not only the enlightenment of this film but also the lessons of wars for the global peace.
